The DelMarVa Youth Jazz Orchestra is an audition only ensemble comprised of talented performers from across the peninsula.

The Jazz Repertoire
The DYJO plays the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich and more.
Performance Opportunities
The DYJO performs 3 ticketed concerts per season as well as regional festivals and concert series.

Instructors & Clinicians
Study with some of the best musicians in the region including guest soloists performing with the DYJO and workshops presented by visiting master musicians.

Anyone ages 15 to 18 as of September 1, 2022 may audition for the DYJO.




The DYJO rehearsal and performance schedule will be set when DYJO auditionees are selected and the first rehearsal of the group is scheduled.

DelMarVa Youth Jazz Orchestra (DYJO) is a youth program sponsored by Jazz Alive, a 501 (c)(3) charitable foundation, to offer professional-style rehearsal and performance opportunities to highly qualified high school musicians interested in the great jazz repertoire. The DYJO will bring performances across the DelMarVa Peninsula inspiring audiences and lifting expectations for the youth in the region.
